Tim Walz rips into ‘weird’ Trump and Vance at DNC with Project 2025 ‘playbook’ warning

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz formally accepted his nomination as Kamala Harris’ running mate as he took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Walz headlined the third day of the Convention alongside Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Oprah Winfrey.
He used his primetime address to speak about his time growing up in Nebraska, his National Guard service, work as a teacher and coach, and his time in Congress before he was elected governor two years ago.
The former coach called for the need to “mind your damn business” regarding woman’s rights and the need for gun control measures to protect children.
He attacked Trump, saying he and JD Vance do not know how to be “a good neighbor.” Project 2025 was also described as a highly dangerous prospect.
“Here’s the thing. It’s an agenda that nobody asked for,” he said of Project 2025. “It’s an agenda that serves nobody but the richest people and the most extreme voices in our country. An agenda that does nothing for our neighbors in need.”
“Is it weird? Absolutely,” he said. “But it’s also wrong.”
Ahead of his appearance on stage, singer John Legend performed a tribute to Prince, who hails from Minnesota.
Walz, 60, was relatively unknown before Harris announced him as her pick for Vice President.
The self-described “Midwest dad” was a former school teacher and high school football coach before starting a political career.
He has also faced scrutiny, including questions about whether he embellished his background.
His wife this week clarified that she did not undergo in vitro fertilization, as Walz has repeatedly claimed, but used other fertility treatments.
Republicans have also criticized Walz for a 2018 comment he made about carrying weapons in war. He served in the National Guard for 24 years but did not deploy to a war zone.
However, Walz spoke about his many proud years serving in the National Guard and also warned the world to “never underestimate a public school teacher.”
Former President Bill Clinton also took the stage at the DNC on Wednesday, delivering a sharp speech in which he joked that he’s younger than Trump.
Harris is set to formally accept the party’s nomination in her keynote speech on Thursday.
